Would you use this or do you think it would make the people spying on you more suspicious?

Alan Woodward makes a fair point: Anti-Spyware/computer security is not their core competency, so it will be hard for them to maintain. These spyware kits update daily due to several firms being nested in with government contracts for the products. There's also a large network of companies that specialize in corporate espionage and a handful of specialized/sophisticated private investigators. It's a massive industry. I think $3bn (US) is a massive underestimate of what's invested in keeping the spyware out and about.

But more to your question, I would consider using it if they showed a good track record of keeping things updated over a few months. As far as making them 'more suspicious' I'm not sure that's possible given the implications. If they're already trying to dump spyware onto your machine (or succeeded in it and are monitoring you) they're already suspicious enough or just angry for whatever reason. Even without suspicion of being monitored it's a good idea to have defenses like this up and running! I'd rather have an enemy with suspicions than an enemy with proof!

I just ran Detekt on my old Vista laptop, and it say it found no threats. Apparently it checks memory for indicators of past intrusions, somehow. It doesn't work on Windows 8, just 7 or earlier.

I guess thats good. Who really knows? Why do they want to know about my porno habits and research interests anyway?
