I'm playing outside of GDI this set. Prepared for the worst, hope for the best. Playing without GDI and going low on any one military unit + SDI is super risky.

I see, triple tap today. When that happens to me I hit back with everything I've got. I'm afraid that simply grabbing back will break GDI and leave me open to counter attacks. If I'm sitting at my computer all day then maybe I'll risk it ;-)

I have been hit five times in the last nine hours...one was a top-feeding me and hit twice. The others were rainbows. At least they didn't suicide me, but it is still too late to be grabbing and retalling when you are trying to stock.

I play the same country every week, always have a few hundred turns on hand, and usually retal all hits regardless of cost. One would think that would deter some, but if they are out to ruin your game (or just having fun for themselves) as Netsquash said, it doesn't matter.

should have some sort of restriction mechanism for late game retals... anybody doing more then 1-2 hits is purely suciding. Obv he was provoking someone to retal him back because he is the scum of the earth with nothing better to do. This was such a tough set to get to 20k acres and to get ****ed like that made me furious.... thank god my football proline tickets are looking good... can focus on football and not this stupid game

I do not mind the late retal. If I hit someone, I expect to be hit in return. But these idiots who are grabbing, top-feeding late in the game for the hell of it and without a strategy are the ones that annoy the hell out of me.

I have been pretty much amazed playing on the Alliance server this set. Having achieved their land goal people embark on stocking and, of course, they have to decide how much military to carry. Stock behind secure defences and reduce your final networth or take a chance and cut expenses to the bone? Well on the Alliance server everyone I spied had the same anser to this - drop defence to a pitiful level. Rely on tag protection and the land for land retal policies and the intricate web of pacts to keep you safe.

Now what about solo servers?

Well there is no tag protection, no-one to retal for you if you are hit and no pacts.

So what to do when you reach your 20k target; make your decision about how much defence to carry and you get hit?

One thing to do is to examine your decision on how much defence to carry. Or to wonder if sitting a bit lower in the scores list might help.

Another thing to do is to focus your disappointment outside yourself, think hard thoughts about the people you play the game with, post complaints and insults, generally look for as much self justification as you can get and reinforce your belief that the world owes you.

The retal policies in 1a are not an honour code. They exist so that clans can create tag protection and to provide a framework for negotiation when squabbles break out. They have nothing whatsoever to do with solo servers.

Both hits were at the same timing, must been an accident due to double clicking. Hence I ate missiles when I was at 21k acres, so my set got ruined and I didnt have time to play on weekends as usual, so I just cashed out on Sunday night and grabbed back whoever hit me(not retal). I would have RoR #70 and #14(both ended t10) if I wanted to be a real ass. In this case, I was just half-ass, just aiming the ones who hit me without any provocation. :)

and Netsquash, maybe at least get 1 tank when you decide to break GDI, then you wouldnt have your set exactly suicided. Btw, I would have PSed you 2 more times if there were enough oil on the market. Both my private market and the public had 0 oil.
