lol @ alin

I figured everyone would farm this set after last set, thought about it myself but figured this would happen.

Got me thinking, aside from cx last set how often has a farmer won? that's the first one ive seen since i've been back i do believe.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but with his reputation preceeding him as a cheater i cant help but wonder if it's realistic and if I would be wasting my time in trying to finish as well with a farmer as i would cashing.

Someone mentioned farmer was fluffed on express as well something about PM prices, why is this?

Not too sure about a bad set to learn. If the market favours you almost anyone can do well at almost any strat. Maybe the time to learn is when things are tough.

The quick use of turns makes it very tough. Based on my first set experience as a farm it seems that it takes them a while to get the ball rolling. Like those first 400 turns or so I'm like where's my cash, I'm phat, my butt is big, and I just kept getting popped. I was struggle to have enough defense. Furthermore, lacking enough cash due to keeping up defenses and trying to gain land in the start makes it much tougher to allocate money for tech. We are in the last 30 something hours and I'm not even close to my tech goal yet. I'm testing it out here to gauge its use in primary since I've only ever teched in primary and thought next time I'd try something new (I probably won't). I like grabbing and farmers seem to be able to afford to grab much later into the set on primary than a techer would and that idea appeals to me.

I believe TDA won a few as a farmer, but can't recall for sure. I know he played it frequently, but he grabbed. Haven't seen him around in awhile; hope everything is okay with him.

That is true, too, silentwolf....we should have played the ole' usual casher this set. I just got bored with it and have been trying to play demo the last few sets.

There is certainly something odd going on in Express. Various six figure batches of Bus/Res have been dumped at about three quarters the expected price.

I don't see how this can be any sort of manipulation but it is hard to see why it would benefit anyone to do this, particularly the Business.

lol i remember the first time i watched the market too......

it is called impatient nubs. it happens on every server every set. also, people shoot for the SOs sometimes if they need quick cash for a war. sometimes the SOs are gone in the 30 min or so it takes the tech to hit the market or the amount is far more than the order was for.

It is looking as though the firestorm tech sales funded a bushel/oil buyout.

If so the food buyout looks to be failing.

Not sure about oil.

there is no buyout, it is called a fast paced server with too thin of a market

it literally happenes almost every set.

less defined as days go by. Fading away well you might say I am losing the focus. Kinda drifting into the abstract in terms of how I see myself

Well tech prices have stabilised and the buyout, if there was one, failed both as regards bushels and oil.

I am wondering who might have tried it. Eebert would have the tech and has been eating missiles for a while. Maybe he tried a desperation shot to recover his set?

Or maybe he does a buy out at this time routinely? Seems unlikely. Dumping all that Bus/Res with so long to go looks mad.

Although maybe it would not take too long to tech it back up - and you would get some sort of price ahead of the falling market. The prices this time, though, looked thoroughly inept.

I think it's mostly supply/demand driven with a bit of basic market psychology from time to time. I don't have the #s to back this up, but I bet for the sets where tech is priced lower than average you would simply see more people paying the strat of a techer, therefore more tech available @ lower prices.
