Anyone else notice the font size growing larger and larger on cnn.com as time goes on?

Tragically, so is the fatality count. It was 2, then 4, then 6, then 9 and now they're claiming it's 12. I'm glad I saw my neighbor running late for his job there this morning and that my friend there is on work travel. Still, I feel horrible for those families and victims. It's a really secure complex with TS' routinely required for most entries.

Yes the entire place is secure or believed to be now. This is a shame for sure. I would imagine a lot of bases and installations will kick up security. As big as the place is they could very well still be inside.

No, there will be a show of force for a couple of days, then the gov will reduce security. President will no doubt use this as an example of gun violence and ask us to reach down deep inside to do some soul searching.
Furthermore, i guess it is time to start carrying a long rifle in my truck. Not feeling it with with only a pistol.

And now the font size shrinks slowly...

I read your article and this is what I would have posted.

The problem is that it's much easier to punish the kid that was bullied and striked back, than it is to punish all the bullies who caused it and the teachers/staff who watch and do nothing. That's the real problem. People with the power and authority don't intervene until it's too late.
Do as I say, not as I do.

6 of those 9 on the list were off-duty police or former military.

Virtually all of them on the list killed people before being stopped, so there wasn't "prevention" but rather "intervention".

How many mass shootings occur without firearms?

Most gun control efforts are focused on "prevention" not reactive intervention. It is crazy that the pro-gun lobby, NRA, gun enthusiasts, etc. resist efforts to reduce the proliferation of guns among people who shouldn't have them (due to prior criminal records, mental issues, lack of training, lack of permits, etc.). As soon as you bring up closing gun-show loopholes, internet sales, etc. they cry that you are trampling on their rights when, in fact, the effort is focused on ensuring that law-abiding and properly trained/certified citizens outnumber the crazies.

Having lived in gun-control friendly Maryland and more 2a-rights Virginia, I can say that VA is safer. The FBI crime stats back it up by showing half the violent crime rate. Break it down to urbanized areas and VA still has almost half of MD's violent crime rate. So the empirical point is exactly what...??

I will never allow anyone to certify my right to take someone elses life in self defence or dictate what method or weapons i use.

How many mass shootings occur without firearms? Jesus peg legged christ on a stick!

How many multi car pile ups occur without cars?
How many failed organ transplant would there be without organs?
How many rapes would occur with no holes in the human body?
If we were all a- sexual would there still people confused about their sexuality?
