I started playing in the 1900s too. Mehul's description called it a s_t_r_a_t_e_g_y game, with economic marketplay, diplomacy, and fighting your enemies. Tools to use to reach the goal of top ranks, measured in networth. My beef has not been about war, but about vandalism. Attacking just to ruin someone's set, knowing you will be unceremoniously killed, with no other goal. That's a suck-ass way to play the game. and after killing the vandals a few times omg it's boring for the rest of the set. Is that the vandals goal? to bore us?

At least when netting, to do it right, every turn you play is strategic and has implications for your goal right up to and including the last day of the set. Making the most of the game mechanics to attain that nw goal. That competition can be exciting. Too bad you never wanted to try the basic core concept of the game. Netting. You might have enjoyed it.

Country names? Should we have a poll, why do 95% of the players change their names? must be because they're hiding! lol I've had a theme to mine for years. Not hiding. Players that know me find me by my country name nearly every set. I even gave redx a big hint at my name this set, went over his head.
But country names, yeah, it's called a choice.

Redx was a Monster far more recently than Servant.

One more thing to get off my chest..

IMO When you are a game admin and game developer and the leader of the Coop tag you mentioned above, I think it's bad form to come out here and ream Servant like that.

Could have done that privately and perhaps even with some diplomacy.

We may have had a fun war this set if not for the vandals. If Mercs were to hit us now, they are attacking a tag bruised by vandalism, bruised in reconstruction for some of us and also delayed growth with the turns played to kill them.

Of course war is part of the Alliance server. Even arranged wars can be fun in a larger player base.
But whether Admin admits it or not there is a significant difference in the gaming experience between war and suiciding/vandalism in a sequence of sets.

There's always been the problem of definition. When I began playing this was a strategy game, in which netting, warring, and diplomacy were options that could be used to capture the crown of #1 in networth. That is how the final ranks, the best players, are still determined, by final NW.

At the same time, it was always possible to force netters to war, not so in trying to force warmongers to net. So us netters try to navigate this problem through diplomacy while understanding there will be sets in which we will war.

What is galling, Slagpit, is what you don't seem to understand. Half-assed Vandalism (not war) by a particular player against a targeted tag for multiple sets. It just isn't good for the game.

And now the aggresor is telling us we will have his BS again next set. Half a year of this crap! I'm old, and may not have many half-a-years left (lol).
He says he's great at war I haven't seen it, he chickened out of a 1v1 against me, an easy netter, so why doesn't he fight the warring tags? Maybe because he's really good at being mediocre.

Shouldn't the bonus time be synced as long as I login to both at the same time? (I do)
As I was typing this I went back to check and both Cooperation and Alliance server changed to:

But the last bonus received on Coop was 13.9 hours ago.
Seems that the bonus timer on the Coop server is counting down the Alliance bonus timer

Once upon a time AT was fun. That's been awhile.

I've grown weary, to the point where I avoid it except when I make my regular stop to look for updates in the Announcements Forum. I'll check there, then come here for a quick scan of the thread titles.
I've found that reading the neverending squabbling on AT makes me want to disassociate from the game completely not just from the handful of people that make this forum so unpleasant.

It was the title of this thread that let me know there was a vote about ClanGDI.

I wondered what had prompted the vote here in this thread, and that's when I read the thread by qzjul "Thoughts and Input" which I'd seen before but didn't open. I didn't want to see more bickering and conspiracy theories.

Unfortunately that was the thread in which the title did NOT mention a vote yet is being touted as the "official tally" while the only thread with the actual word VOTE in the thread title is being discounted.

For someone like me, that doesn't hang out on AT waiting to toss out the next insult or CT, this seems a bit awry..

Clan A decs on Clan B. Clan B has 48 hours to respond. At the 20th hour Clan B accepts.
Can the shooting start immediately upon Clan B's acceptance? Or do both sides have to wait for a complete 48 hour countdown?

I have two more questions

- Clans will have a "Defence Account", denominated in $
- Countries in Clan GDI will pay 1% of "GDP" (NW + Expenses), to this account each turn

Does that mean ALL clans will have a Defence Account but only countries in Clan GDI will pay the 1% of GDP?

And:

- Clans >= 5 members can Declare War on other Clans that are >= 5 members (whether or not either are in Clan GDI)
-> the "Defending Clan" will have 48 hours to Accept War or Surrender (after which it is auto-Accepted)

So, whether or not a tag is in Clan GDI, it cannot be surprise attacked? There will always be 48 hours to respond regardless of Clan GDI status?
