i have a hunch that they arent even coded properly...

Funnily enough the opposition to doing away with suicides with Clan-GDI was that it would change the game for the worse for many players that had nothing to do with it. Yet that would have been limited to 1a. Now instead we have a situation where suiciders are nerfed a little but concepts like NW matching retals/grabs, government bonuses, PS bonuses and MStrat are rendered inert in many situations across ALL SERVERS.

Very complicated solutions to very simple problems is the way it seems. :/

it increases tyr/dict in some circumstances as well in comparison to others

and it puts much more skill into grabbing, because now people make bad grabs so you have to avoid doing that

this was the first grabber of the set who made very bad hits:

#292 grabbed a 658A country

#158 grabbed a 795A country (#158) and a 712A country (#367)

#351's targets were slightly better (bar the first one)
#185 was 625A
#278 was 1336A and had 1 DR
#345 was 1425A
#313 was 1356A

No point grabbing anything less than 2k imho, may as well explore - especially if you are rep.

As the set goes on i'm sure the grabbing changes will bite a little, but this looks like user error.

I'm currently at ~130A per grab which feels ok at this point.

Chevs it only affects you if you are trying to get cheesy 100 jet grabs with 300 acres. Get more land then start grabbing.

The parameters of the game have changed so you'll need to adjust your strategy/expectations to adapt to it.

I'd rather do more to shake things up than continue to let everyone optimize the status quo.

Negating government and tech bonuses is probably counterproductive, because it negates the point of playing that government type, or researching that tech at all.

You could look at it like that, or you could look at like:

"In order to take advantage of your govt grab bonus and/or milstrat, you need to make sure you have the requisite land built"

Yea cheesy grabs is a good description of what it affects. We are talking probably about 5% of all grabs on all servers and probably less than 2% of the grabs in 1a that will be affected by this limitation. Just so happens that not all of these grabs are part of a suicide effort.

But yeah it is just something that we have to adjust to. :)

Ahh yes, same here. But to be honest its more fun when you are forced to rethink things.. I've run that crap 10k acres and 130cs by turn 200 for like 2 years straight save for the OOP war sets. I assume that those of us who did that will have to change more than everyone else but that means more fun for us, doesnt it? :)

This seems like it will pay off mid to late set. Bots can grow faster and suiciders have to put more effort in. Once you kill someone who was able to hide all set to rech 50k acres to make grabbing effective their fun is over.

I expect to see a lot more bots in top 100

People who adjust better will do better so it’s a good thing in that regard!

Also, still maxed at 10% regardless of government or tech, which is why its making those things pointless. Why get mil tech if youre going to get the same result without it? Ditto government types?

I believe youll find it affects a lot more grabs than that man. Having to either build a rainbow or obly grab someone on the same strat as you, and even then, new caps means that youre going to get about the same amount regardless of goverent or tech.

On the flip side, I guess it'll make all x competitive again...

Meh, i like the changes..

Not sure about that my gut tells me all-x tops out around $200m, maybe not even that. Perhaps someone can prove me wrong?

I reckon an average grabber should be able to get to $500m+ without too much trouble.

I think a lot of people don't know how to adapt to the changes and so they get affected worse than they have to. That's the only reason I can think of for why they exaggerate the effects to such a degree.

My math, while unable to take in all considerations, and relying on some assumptions, suggest the changes will cost around 50-80m NW for a Fascist who makes an effort to adapt. Thats about as much as 1 or 2 landgrabs from a suicider used to cost.

I land grabbed a lot of cashers today, I didn't get a single buis/res building. Because I had zero buis/res buildings, I got zero buis/res buildings. Not sure I like that.
