right now i have a childrens python. fed him last thursday, he was coiled around my finger and wouldn't let go, so i thought if i gave him the mouse he would let go to coil/eat it.
he struck it, coiled it and then ate it still coiled around my finger. it was odd, but super cool.

I have a bsnake - he needs to be fed tequila 3 times a day, and prefers his mice slightly warm.

I've had a redtail for almost 5 years now. I had an eastern diamondback but got rid of it after I got another dog.

We "babysat" my oldest daughter's Ball Python (obviously his name was Monty) for a few years.

He was very docile. And he scared the CRAP out of our cat Ozzy. Which got bonus points in the Dragon Book.

ball pythons are sweet. if i had the room in my place i would get like 50 snakes lol. but we had a second kid and my office turned into a babys room haha.
but i will be getting a GTP with a bad ass viv. looking into making a custom one with a fish tank at the bottom.

i used to live with a few room mates. 1 had a 6' boa constrictor, and the other was terrified of snakes. made for some good drunk fun

I helped build a custom tank for a GTP a few years ago out of a hexagon aquarium. Fun stuff.

My high school science teacher had a 12 inch or so ball python - very cool snake, super friendly and sociable. He kept it in a 50 gallon glass tank, so it had tons of room to move around, and it would come out and "play" during class every hour for his advanced classes.

I loved it - I took advanced astronomy/astrology and Physics II with him just so I could play with it. Lucky me, both turned out to be fun classes to boot.

i had a burmese python and a redtail when i was in my teens. the burmese was about 6.5 feet and the redtail was prob about 5. they were great snakes but i just didnt have the time (or money lol) to take care of them so i donated them to a pet store. wish i could get another.

well a burmese get HUGE. they are a lot to care for. if u get a smaller one, care is much much easier/cheaper. you dont have to have a super elaborate set up, tanks are cheap. and if they eat mice, its like a buck or 2 a week for food.
atm im about to start making a waterfall. going to be a fun lil project.

i used a empty closet as the habitat. it actually worked well as it was big for them to move around in. if i remember correctly the burmese was eating 2-3 rats a week. the redtail 1. at $4-5 each making 7.50/hr it gets expensive lol.

Nothing beats having them hunt their own food... Then again cats are better at that

Why not? You can even do it arena style

2 guinea pigs enter, only one may live another day (the snake can get greedy and kill both)

Sounds fun

problem is the snake will kill one, then kill the other and eat it. then if hes still hungry come back and eat the first one he killed.

snake wont necessarily kill both. some species would. but others would just eat one and leave the other as long as its enclosure was big enough that they weren't on top of each other lol

some ppl couldn't do it. i know a lot of ppl that refuse to live feed even. but imo it dies when the snake kills it, or when the store kills it. either way its dead, why not let the snake hunt it.

if i put 2 rats out for mine to eat he would kill them both before eating one. maybe he didnt like seeing the other one walk around while he was eating lol.

a lot has to do with the size of his viv and the size of the food. big enough rat or mouse can hurt or even kill a snake. and they are most vulnerable when eating, so if it feels in any way threatened it wont eat with the other one there. and some snakes are cranky and i will just kill for the fluff of it lol
