You don't waste any more turns rebuilding than a casher or farmer does. You will need to spend less turns generating income than a casher or farmer does, though.
Techer/grabber on FFA beats the landtrader if you spend enough time finding targets. If you're finding targets for 16 countries, its going to take way too much time (unless you love spending hours a day on this game). If you're finding targets for 4 countries, its probably not too bad.
On the alliance server, a grabber is superior to a landtrader normally until about 20k to 40k acres (unless the grabber doesn't know how to grab). But due to the much much higher selection of targets on FFA, I agree that the grabber can always beat the landtrader, given that a landtrading techer can't really go much beyond 50k to 60k acres if its goal is networth.
