I agree with Donny (although not on the extent of how cheap it should be). I think a $120 base price for food on the PM rather than a $360 base price on the PM would make more sense.

Making food less than $120 is a problem, since a TMBR could get food to $64 if the base food price was $120, meaning that they could make a profit reselling food if food prices ever went to $69 or more. I think giving food a cap at $69ish for its public market price (assuming there are sufficient TMBRs) isn't too big of a problem, but going any lower than that you start to run into issues.

so? people use the pribate market sometimes to turn a profit on the public market with military, what would be the big deal if they did it with food too?

If we cap food prices too low, then the farmer strategy is weakened too much. Farmer needs to stay competitive versus casher, and it needs food to reach $50+ for periods to make up for the amount of time it spends under $40.

when have bushels ever gone over 70 dollars without some type of buyout. certainly never in the existence of EE FFA.

its not like you have an unlimited supply of PM bushels. isnt it based on how much you have sold into the PM? i know on my 26k acre country i can only buy 6m bushels. i dont see anyone making a real profit on 6m bushels at 5-6 profit each lol.

the only downside would be if it hurt the farmer strat. but then agian $69 bushels would make farmer the best strat rather then a weaker strat.

on old game few times at end of alliance public price was over priv. price (non mil. tech/theo).

my biggest country has 5.6m bushels at priv.

Personally late set bushels buyouts are there to screw with communists, if the PM is changed that hurts late set bushel buyouts on the express server, for that I think the price is fine at it is, private market bushels are a last resort, like a meteor falling and destroying the public market trade :)
