There is a key word in about half of those people's deaths. Also if the other Ramones, Dio and Presley hadn't died of other causes, they would have died of drug overdoses too.

I wanted to say something about Whitney Houston's death as being attributed to just crack/cocaine... but even Wikipedia says it was because she 'drowned'. Michael Jackson's was listed as 'cardiac arrest' even tho we now know drugs were involved.

Drugs and alcohol and excess in general. The same fluff kills you, me and every other "average person".

With famous people, it's maybe more prevalent just because they have virtually unlimited access due to their financial means.

I think also, Personality Type has a lot to do with it as well as brain chemistry.

Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, and Andrew Wood all were heroin users.

On rare occasion, guys like Eric Clapton beat the Beast, but truthfully, it seems that the High Achievers are those most prone to addiction of every kind. Hell. Even Thomas Kincaid bought it from alcohol and drugs.

All that said, back in he late 70's and early 80's when I was DJ'ing in dance clubs, Donna Summer was the utter Queen. I don't know if she wrote her own songs, but she was beautiful, glamorous and enormously talented. It's never a good day when we lose someone like that, and I say that both as a fan and a musician. Losing an idol as well as a Peer is teh double suck.

i think they're just bored senseless because they don't have to worry about how they're going to make enough money to live on.

some of her songs did catch my attention on WOGL in the last year or two. felt like jumping the radio. Hubba, Hubba.
