This is mainly towards qz or anyone else that would know for sure, but perhaps this has been covered elswhere.

Do 24 hour DRs and the new permanent country-to-country DRs compound?

To give an idea of what I mean, if I'm about to do my 3rd and 4th hits between Country A and Country B overall, then the 3rd hit should still get max ghost acres, but the 4th hit would be in DRs where I only get 80%.

But let's say Country B was landgrabbed twice from outside the alliance. The first hit I do that day will be the third within 24 hours AND the third between countries, so presumably, there's no problem there, but my fourth hit would result in 80% returns because of 24 hour DRs, but would it also be subject to 80% returns due to the permanent DRs, meaning I'd really be getting (Max Ghost Acres * 0.8 * 0.8) or only 64% of the max returns instead of 80% for that hit.

Or would it simply be whichever is more punitive that applies, meaning it would still simply be (Max Ghost Acres * 0.8) without the 2nd 0.8 being in there?

I presume it follow the lines of normal dr so all hits with in 24 hrs are counted the same, then country to country hits are remembered so if they hit 1 sec from the last one till 2 months from the last one dr is applied.

Yes it just doesn't expire them for you, effectively; so rather than dropping from say 4 DR to 3DR 24h after you hit them, that hit doesn't drop the DR anymore (for you)

Also, ghost acres make the game more playable =/ if you remember before ghost acres, everything was extremely tight for land, and you had horrible politics resulting from lack of land...

In theory, I agree that ghost acres are kind of dumb, but qz's absolutely right in that without them, the politics of the game would change tremendously without them.

In practice, we pretty much need them.

Just to make sure I'm absolutely clear on this:

If a country is 4-deep into diminishing returns because of hits coming from outside the tag (24 hour DRs), and 3-deep into diminishing returns because a week ago I land-traded (country-to-country DRs), ONLY the 24 hour DRs would actually affect my grab since they're currently greater, despite that the hits would continue to put that country further into DRs on both counts.

For once, I'm actually doing some of the math it requires to really be good at this game, and I'd hate to think I'm using the wrong numbers. :)



all land-trading hits would count towards 24 hour DRs and country-to-country DRs, but ultimately only whichever is GREATER of the two actually affects the ghost acre gains and the other is left out of the equation. Correct? Or am I getting it wrong?
