My laptop is 720p. If I play a YouTube video, there won't be any difference between 720p and 1080p. Correct? My TV on the other hand is 1080p. If i hook up my laptop to my TV via an HDMI cable, there WILL be a difference between 720p and 1080p. Correct?

Your laptop screen is 720p so it doesnt display things in 1080p. When its hooked up via hdmi, since hdmi handles 1080p, then the tv will display the video in 1080p
