Due to your country having made an attack within the last 72 hours, you are unable to self-delete at this time.

It seems I don't need to retal. Someone has already missile'd him. I'll just store up missiles for later, I guess.

Unless you kill someone- I don't get why people bother GS'ing. You'd be better off using that $ in warfare tech than from buying troops/oil.

Well if you do it enough, you can lower the production of said country and it'll take them a nice while to build their pop back up. Do it this late in the game, they might just give up for the rest of the set.

Getting their population down really isn't a big setback, if you don't kill them, it's actually helping them a whole lot more.

And before you all hammer me for telling me about the below 80% population rule. It was pointed out some time ago- that if you place your tax rate at 70% your production can return back to normal rather quickly.

Something I also noticed, you can place your tax rate at 70% then click advisor tab to see your tpt, bushels, ect... if it's maxed - then go lower with tax rate by like 5%. If it starts to drop- then go back, and run a couple turns for some population to return.

I've tried it- it does work- the only time it doesn't help immediately is if they got your population so low that even 70% tax bracket doesnt even help- but you will certainly reach your max production much much faster using this trick.

Celphi, you must not war enough. The production loss from repeated GS makes a big difference over time, and greatly affects your ability to keep fighting. Losing resources is losing resources, man.

I did a thread on this in the Strategy Room.

You can help production (not population recovery) by manipulating tax rate (70% when you want more production that turn, 0% when you want more pop recovery) and as a techer you will want more production.

But it takes for ever. And it is tedious in the extreme (because the tpt changes every single turn so you must play turn by turn).

The idea that an extended gs run confers benefit not harm is no longer right.

The old fashioned extended AB run is still the most damaging weapon but if there are reasons why gs suits you (enemy has a lot of tanks but few troops or you want the little bits of loot gs provides) gs is now something to consider.

As with ABs, short gs runs are still a waste of time helping only your enemy by conferring a bit of DR.

If you want to war- I've found AB, Bomb Airbases and Bomb Structures to be the best on EXPRESS. If they have a ton of troops like 500k+ then CS is great too (because they basically lose about 4.5 mil a turn by doing so.)

Not exactly accurate. You can only gain a max of 3% of current population a turn. So even at 70% tax rate, you could be gaining that 3% population. So really, 0% tax rate doesn't help ever when trying to recover production or population.

That was the point I was making. Start off at 70% and adjust it by clicking your advisor tab so that you can see where the line of max production and gain that 3% population back at the same time.

Try it.

Try what?

I've done the experiment already.

If your tax rate is at 0% the most you can gain is 3% OF YOUR CURRENT POPULATION.

So- if you have a current population of 9000, then the max you can gain that turn is 270 civilians. You don't need 0% to gain back 270 civilians a turn. You can gain 270 civilians at 70% tax rate, but the 70% tax rate gives more production.

A new rule was implemented some time ago so that if your population falls below 80% of max population then your production goes down significantly.

So the trick was this- You raise your tax rate (which lowers your max population) thus, effectively making it easier to achieve 80% of your max population.

So since you only gain a max of 3% of your CURRENT population a turn- it makes no sense to go 0% tax rate. You're far better off maximizing your production AND gaining back 3% of population at the same time.

But you deleted the message and are relying on your self serving memory. So my own guess would be that you misread it and are now misremembering to serve your preconception. Perhaps ebert messaged you before he posted (which is what an honourably minded person might do).
