as far as i know you have to wait till birth to do a paternity test, so it would make sense that he is still awaiting trial?

the mother could be setting him up in a number of ways? namely lying?

Hmm, I didn't think of that, it seems like you could test sooner.

Here is what I just found:

They detail 3 different methods for prenatal testing and also say:

DNA testing can be done as early as the end of the first trimester of pregnancy, starting in the 10th week by the CVS procedure or week 9 with the SNP microarray procedure.

I would think in a criminal case they would, but maybe the girl (or her mother as guardian) refused?

Although perhaps it is too expensive or the tech to do it don't exist there. More likely is that someone simply refused to do it or allow it.

I guess we'll learn more on this case later.

The improvement in the technology is impressive though.
