Man, my 2 RL friends that got me into this game coached me through AIM/AOL. Back then, I had the bloated AOL platform to get online, then minimized it to use Explorer and AIM on a Win 95 low end Gateway. I think that is how i got around parental controls.

I even asked out my first gf through AIM.
