For me in Pa, the storm wimped out ... we got some good winds but nothing too crazy. Didn't lose any power either =D
Hope everyone else managed to get through the storm in one piece!
Toronto: up here some scattered power outages due to falling trees ect and one person killed by debris. One of my friends found out that his building doesn't have emergency lights which is a massive violation of the fire code ...

I still have no power, since about 9am? Yesterday... Almost nailed a downed tree going home at like 4am, scared the crap out of me. My house is fine, the water came up a few blocks away. 9 feet above the bulkheads in some areas..
Lots of homes were destroyed here, Lbi was pretty much completely under water, gotta wait for the water to recede. Seaside (where the filmed the Jersey shore) supposedly lost a good chunk of fun town pier with some of the rides (like carnival rides) This area lost a lot.. :( The entire Jersey shore got messed up terribad.
The town of Holgate, the southern most section of lbi is gone. Beach haven west another very.large.neighborhood had a lot of houses wiped out, boats are floating where the houses and streets used to be.
And yet I'm seeing stuff on fb like "storm was a joke, no damage" Yet the next street over is gone. People can't be this retarded. :(
We fared pretty well here in my area of PA. We didnt lose power, some minor flooding and trees down. I havent ventured out too far yet, still waiting to hear if we have to go into work or not.
Unfortunately the stomach bug that hit me last night is worse that the hurricane.
was not as bad as some thought in my area as well - by Syracuse
fluff your 300 Spartans fool - i have 32 of the biggest fluffed mother fluffers made of titanium !!
A brigade from Blackstreetboyz (#91) has invaded your lands! Your defenses held against the invaders and forced them away! Your military lost:1 Troops

Yes some people are stupid. I was remarking on facebook this morning how people should check their facts before posting fake photos. I am glad you are ok.
A weak cat 1 hits jersey and it is the storm of the century. A cat 3 hits Miami and it is just another Thursday......
Just because you are used to hurricanes and the upper east coast is not, does not make it right for you to decide how another part of the country or a person handles it. A storm reacts differently in different areas. STFU ford.
<cloud-rasp> It’s real bad
<cloud-rasp> DDOSing my DESTOCK
Kahuna: Ya you just wrote the fkn equation, not helping me at all. Lol n I hated algebra.
Like i said to galleri, the wind, the rain that wasnt the bad part of the storm. Water rose at high tide almost 10 feet above sea level, where most of our area is at 0-5 feet. Tmobile was down, the electrical equipment for the tower was under water. Transformers every where got fully submerged. No access to the barrier islands they're expecting for at least a week. There are literally sections of the islands that were washed away, as soon as the ocean over topped the dunes we were screwed. Yes there are some mega mansions that got ruined, the cool thing about my area though is.right.next to mansion is joke another broke bastard like every where else. Everyone lost...
Go go go away Hurricane Sandy. Effects are pretty widespread, bring cold whether and winds to Middle Tennessee. East Tennessee has been hit with a snowstorm and it just gets worse going further to the northeast.
i lost power for about an hour. probably wouldn't have noticed the wind if my windows had been closed. i've delivered pizza in worse. oh well. y'all take care and don't rebuild wherever it flooded.

Elvis has left the building.
Glad to see Cape May and the Wildwoods are in fairly good shape. Too bad about the other shore towns.
They say a lot of that area will never look the same.
mrford, the reason this was so bad is not the category of the storm, but the timing ... high tide, full moon, and a direct hit along the Jersey coast. We dont get many direct hits like that.
I saw this news report about a couple of Dutch companies who are saying: give us $15 billion and we'll build you a couple of proper storm surge barriers and levees and there will be no more flooding in the area for at least a century, no need to evacuate people etc.
Seemed interesting, although I'm not sure it's worth the expense.
Long beach island and seaside heights barrier islands were deemed unsafe to the public. At.the.moment they're organizing "grab and go" A several hour window where residents can go in, grab.essentials and.leave. Theyre estimating three.islands to be closed for 8-12 months..... :(
